Right Said Fred was formed in 1989 by brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass. Before forming Right Said Fred, the brothers played with Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger and David Bowie. “I’m Too Sexy” was released in 1991. Taking a swipe at the fashion industry; the song went to number one in over 30 countries including the U.S, where it topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. To make Right Said Fred even more awesome, they are the first UK band after The Beatles to reach number one in the U.S. with a debut single. The song has been used in hundreds of TV commercials and movies.
So Where Did They Go?
The world didn’t really give much attention to Right Said Fred after “I’m Too Sexy,” but man are they awesome! Their debut album “Up” reached number one in the UK, remaining in the Top 40 for almost a year.
So what happened to Right Said Fred after “I’m Too Sexy”? Oh they still make fantastic music. The album “Stand Up” was released in 2002. “Stand Up (For the Champions), a popular track from the album, became the anthem of sports channels and teams all over, even featuring on the Super Bowl in the U.S. In 2008, the band released “I’m a Celebrity.”
2012 saw the release of “Sexaholic.” They made a special appearance on “Life’s Too Short” along with Liam Neeson, Jonny Depp and Sting. 2014 gave us “Raise Your Hands” and Right Said Fred continue to record music and still perform to sell-out shows all over Europe.
