Tyga splurges on Kylie, again: As we all know Tyga is officially back with Kylie Jenner, at least as at now. And now that she’s back in his life, the youngest of the Jenner girls is again enjoying the perks of being T-Raww’s main squeeze. One of these is lavish birthday gifts, like the sleek white Ferrari she got last year. But this year it’s a sleek black Maybach Merc with shiny chrome on the wheels and a fridge for bubbly on the go. Two days later, though, an arrest warrant was issued for Tyga by a Los Angeles county judge. He still hasn’t paid that landlord the $480,000 he owes in rent arrears and he didn’t bother to show for a hearing for the suit the landlord lodged against him. I’d hate to be Tyga’s manager right about now…
Bow Wow retirement; the aftermath: On Monday the rapper formerly known as Bow Wow, formerly known as Lil Bow Wow, formerly known as Kid Gangsta, announced he was quitting the game at the ripe old age of 29. He didn’t want 30 to catch him spitting, you see. And besides, he’s made more than enough from rap, so it’s time to mind the many other lucrative irons he has in the fire, get them “tv checks”, as he put it. Besides openly admitting that he’s always hated rapping, Shad Moss still has diehard followers, and they expressed their support on Twitter, some even naming him among the hip hop GOATs. Others however, were far from impressed, throwing up hilarious replies to Moss’s tweets:

Kelly reopens Pandora’s box: When’s the last time you heard about Kells in the news? Personally, I last saw him when give a touching interview talking about his struggle with stage fright and the teacher who mentored him into the musician he is today. But after the media had given him the break he desired, R. Kelly has gone and reopened Pandora’s box by appearing in public with a 19 year-old who is supposedly his girlfriend. If he wasn’t turning 50 in the next couple of months, this might not have been an issue. If he didn’t have an underage sex case on his rap sheet, no one would have bothered. But he is and he did. With these two thoughts in mind you would think Robert would be cautious about who he hooks up with, or at least where he takes her out. But there he was parading Halle Calhoun at the Gold Room in Atlanta in the full glare of cameras. With Twitter blowing up with reactions to this sighting, I’ve got a sneaky suspicion R. Kelly’s holed up in his studio crafting a gospel jam.
Troy Ave flips the tables: From being charged with attempted murder, among other charges for that May incident at Irving Plaza which we’d all like to forget about, rapper Troy Ave is now in court seeking damages. The Crown Heights MC, who appeared to enter a room wielding a firearm and shooting in CCTV footage from the fateful day, is now suing the owners of Irving Plaza for allowing a firearm into the building. Scott Lennon, lawyer to Troy, insists that his client was the victim in the incident and that he didn’t carry a gun into the premises. And to celebrate his change in status from suspect to complainant, Troy has released a brand new mixtape named after himself. Go ‘head and stream or download ‘Roland Collins’ for free.
Rihanna eyes big screen: If Rihanna caught your eye with her acting on the ‘BBHM’ video, you will be happy to hear that the pop star has landed a role in an upcoming Hollywood production. She will be part of the all-female crew in ‘Ocean’s Eight’, the latest remake of the original 1960s flick ‘Ocean’s Eleven’. RiRi’s fellow cast members will include Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchette. Filming is set to begin in October though, so don’t expect to see a trailer until late 2017 thereabouts.
We leave you with a nice little treat, if you’re a Biggie fan, or just have a thing for old school hip hop. Someone dug up a vinyl EP that featured the Notorious B.I.G from the archives of Daddy-O, who produced the recording way back in the early 90s. That someone, Chopped Herring Records, put the project up on sale and the 500 copies were sold out within minutes. But you can sample the unreleased record below:
