GoldLink has had the world’s attention ever since his phenomenal 2014 release ‘The God Complex‘; 11 insanely danceable rap tracks one of the most memorable of which is the moody ‘When I Die‘. He followed it up with ‘And After That, We Didn’t Talk‘, his first full-length release. Critically acclaimed, it produced the Billboard top ten hit ‘Dance on Me’ and dealt with the same relationship, family and hood issues The God Complex did with the same passion and candor. The new album also had its share of house-infused club bangers including ‘Spectrum’ which samples Missy Elliott’s ‘She’s A B*tch’. GoldLink matches the uptempo track with quickfire rhymes like only he can. The song was released on the same date as the album it’s drawn from and now 10 months later we have its video.
Directed by Adrain Pereyra of 88 Rising, the video tells a brief tale of what started off as a dance battle but ended in tragedy. As the characters arrive at the battlefield it’s clear that what’s at stake is the heart of a dude caught in a love triangle with two ladies. In the middle of busting moves one of them fires a pistol, fatally wounding her rival. Before she passes on into the afterlife she breathes her last words in Filipino.
Can’t wait to hear more from this 2015 XXL Freshman.
