It’s been a minute since we heard of celebrities in financial doldrums. Okay, that’s not exactly true; a few days ago rap legend Scarface was hauled in for unpaid child support. But other than this, and 50 Cent’s rather hyperbolic declaration of brokeness, it seems our cherished artists are rendering to Caesar his dues. Well, except Trey Songz. The R&B heartthrob seems to have forgotten his obligations to Uncle Sam and has racked up unpaid taxes of close to $750,000. Last month Trigga was slapped with a federal tax lien in Miami for $748,800 as tax on the money he made in 2013.
Considering the millions he raked in on the ‘Between the Sheets Tour’ with Chris Brown and how well his 2014 album ‘Trigga’ did, its baffling why the Virginia crooner never settled with the IRS. Maybe he was too busy. Maybe he forgot. But seeing that on the same 2013 Trey moved into a $35,000-a-month mansion in Hollywood, it could be yet another case where extravagant living became the downfall of a celebrity.
