What better way to welcome 2016 than with a new video from one of 2015’s hottest pop stars? Taylor Swift is not just a force in the entertainment world; Forbes listed the 26 year-old one of the most powerful women of year. ‘1989‘ was the best-selling album in the US in 2014 and as of today it has sold close to 9 million copies worldwide. With the stack of mind-numbing figures Tay’s fifth full-length has racked up, you wouldn’t begrudge her a long holiday, even a brief hiatus from the scene. But that’s clearly not the Pennsylvania native’s style; right on New Year’s eve she released the sixth single from 1989 ‘Out Of The Woods’.
As a bonus she released the song together with a spellbinding video of herself lost in a wintry wasteland, chased by a pack of bloodthirsty wolves. Yet the clip starts with her on a sun-washed beach staring out into a turquoise expanse. But suddenly trees and thickets spring up from the ground to black out the cloudless sky. Then there’s a breathtaking sequence of shots that see the landscape change from autumn forests to icy peaks to muddy jungles. In the end a weather-beaten Taylor walks up to herself and thereafter the words “She lost him, but she found herself, and somehow that was everything” close out an enchanting four minutes.
