The winning combination that boosted ‘Blurred Lines’ into stratospheric sales is at it again. This time they take it back to when soulful quartets dominated the music industry with Pharrell, the song’s producer, casting himself in the lead vocalist role. It is a walking-pace jam in which the jazz influences are still evident despite it being panel-beaten to fit the radio. Why T.I. chose this lullaby-sounding jam as the single to promote his upcoming album, slated for release on October 21st, I’m not sure. Especially if you consider that the album contains songs with Chris Brown, Usher, Jizzy, Rick Ross, etc. Surely it’s not just because it bears the same title as the LP. But who knows, the choice of single may yet prove inspired. I wouldn’t bet on it.
