Little has been heard from Sia since the furore following the release of her ‘This Is Acting‘ album died down. But she has been keeping busy with big screen projects; it was her voice singing the cover of Nat King Cole’s ‘Unforgettable’ you heard on the ‘Finding Dory’ soundtrack. Her golden vocals also graced ‘My Little Pony: The Movie’ where she took on the role of Serenade Songbird. She hasn’t left her fans hanging for too long though; a few days ago she uploaded snippets of an upcoming visual which bore the hashtag #WeAreYourChildren on Twitter. Some took the mysterious message to be the title of the new single, but it wasn’t. What everyone who watched the 15-second clip was sure of is that there would be something new from the enigmatic Aussie pop star coming on September 6.
And here we are in September 6 and Sia has lived up to her promise. She has delivered both a new single and its accompanying video under the banner ‘The Greatest’. The song is a typically self-affirming pop ditty that showcases the 40 year-old’s powerful vocals in all their splendor over a reggaeton-infused assemblage of drumbeats and keyboard chords. To project the message of freedom to be all that one can be, Sia and director Daniel Askill have created a world where people lie in slumber in a house with a cell. They are aroused by the cries of Maddie Ziegler, the girl who appears in most every other Sia video, and they get busy with meticulously choreographed routines before returning to sleep.
