Some of us will never get over the fact we will never, ever see “The King” perform live. Seriously, the thought gives me panic attacks. I was too young when he performed in South Africa in 1997. I swear I would have died dead if by some miracle I ever got to see him live so let’s just move on because my therapist is out of town.
*Note to Self: Maybe I shouldn’t roll my eyes when teenagers go into mini-trances whenever they see Justin Drew Bieber or his wax statue. Yeah, I rolled my eyes when I typed that sentence so maybe in a couple of years.
Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958. Apart from being hands down one of the greatest entertainers in history, Michael Jackson was also somewhat a bit out there. He did a lot of crazy things is what we are saying: dangling a live baby over a balcony, multiple plastic surgeries, and had somewhat of a weird fascination with “Peter Pan.”
We guess being world famous at an age when most of us were still trying to figure out whether a baby comes from the stork, an airplane, or the kitchen oven, kind of does things to you. And having a dad like Joe couldn’t have made things any easier.

Michael Jackson’s long-suffering nose finally gave up and fell off during his 30th anniversary TV show. Because MJ had editing rights, he had that part edited out.
So Is It True?
Michael Jackson did quite a number on his poor face. Watch the video for ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ and then watch the one for ‘You Rock My World’ and tell me sheet didn’t go down. MJ has reportedly had six nose jobs. Over the years, his nose looked more and more like something that went through a pencil sharpener way too many times. In 2001, one reporter described his nose as the size of those baby corns you usually find in salads.
MJ’s 30th anniversary TV show was in 2001, but this same story was doing the rounds in the late 90’s. Either Michael Jackson didn’t use super glue or, you know, his nose was still attached to his face by real human nerves or something; we are really not “noseologists” here but you get the idea.
In 2002, one plastic surgeon said to go from a flat, broad nose to a narrow, projecting nose; you have to “…put silicone, bone, or cartilage in the nose like a tent stake to make the nose stick out. But when you do that enough, the silicone, bone or cartilage pokes through.” This one’s from a real “noseologist” so you can’t argue with him. Michael Jackson almost certainly still had his real nose attached to his face, but, how do we say this in the gentlest way, it was literally hanging by a thread.
When it comes to MJ’s plastic surgeries, the rumors will always substitute cold hard facts. This is largely due to the fact that MJ was very secretive about his beauty treatments. Add to that his strange behavior, the legend of Michael Jackson as well as the prosthetic nose rumor will live on forever. MJ died of cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009.
