It’s not every day you get blessed with soulful pop rock from the Peruvian capital. Today is one of those rare days so you’d better pull over and cop an earful of Pedro Villar. You will get nothing more or less than what’s on Villar’s heart when you listen to the guitar-driven melodies. Villar’s mellow, unforced delivery is comforting and laden with heartfelt sentiment.
Influenced by Leonino
Villar credits one of his uncles who was more or less the DJ at family get-togethers. His huge CD collection sparked the curiosity of little Pedro, baiting him into the world of music. At the age of 15 he got his first instrument, a guitar, which he taught himself to play. Inspired by Chilean crooner Jorge Gonzalez and international rock stars like John Lennon, Michael Jackson and Depeche Mode, Villar began churning out cover after cover before finally finding his own style.
Earlier in 2014 Villar put out his first EP, which you can download here. The first single ‘Simple’ garnered thousands of hits and now he’s followed it up with ‘Inocente’ for which he shot a nifty video. I’ve done my part; introduced you to Pedro, shown you what he can do and told you what I think of his style. Your turn; Hate it or Love it?
