Meet The Dang Tao Chicken
If you want to keep eating chicken I suggest you stop reading right here. There’s a different kind of chicken in town and it could stomp you to death if it feels like it. The Dang Tao Chicken is a breed of chicken native to Vietnam. The chickens, also known as the Dragon Chicken spot massive feet that can weigh up to 6 kilos, that are covered in red scales, and are as creepy as any putrid heart can ever hope for. Looking like the secret love child of ‘Drogon’ and some poor, burnt-to-ashes bird, the Dragon Chicken is said to be difficult to breed.
This is because huge legs make hatching a horror show and they are also extremely sensitive to changes in temperature. But they are bred solely for those massive feet; which are said to be delicious. People have been eating chicken for 10000 years and the birds’ feet are considered a delicacy in some regions. In South Africa, chicken feet are served as a snack or even part of the main course in some homes. We even have a name for them; “walkie talkies,” and they are delicious.
But there’s not a force; not in earth or in heaven, that will get me to eat those dragon feet, even if I could afford it. Dragon Chicken feet can sell for over $2,500. Yes this is what rich people spend their money on. Why can’t they just go to the zoo and punch a giraffe right in its tenders like normal people would? That sounds like a much more exciting experience to me than eating chicken feet infested with elephantiasis. This is not what poultry is supposed to look like.
