Multi-talented London singer-producer Aaron London has been on our radar for a minute now, right from the time in December 2014 when he blew us away with ‘Days In The West‘. Since then he’s gone on to drop that fiery EP ‘The Art of Procrastination’ and a string of delectable singles. So New Machine is who we need to introduce you to, and as it turns out you may have already heard his work, just not as a solo artist. The London-based artist, born Adam Jordan, has production and co-writer credits on the works of such mainstream acts as Plan B and Joey Bada$$. He is currently signed to Sony/ATV as part of the Temperamental crew.
‘Dare 4 U’, released on June 7, represents many firsts for both New Machine and Aaron. It is Adam’s first ever solo recording and is also the first time the two musicians have worked together. It will undoubtedly also be the first time you’re hearing anything like this song. There is a seamless clash of genres, musical eras and sound effects in the track that might have been distracting in any other context. But the two Londoners showcase their depth of musical nous in making the many disparate elements work together in joyful harmony. Aaron’s distorted falsetto melds brilliantly into the wobbling bass and radiant synth and the effects make it all feel like the work of an accomplished DJ.
Another first we neglected to mention is that the video was the first New Machine ever made. The entire collection of images was directed, shot and edited by himself with most of the footage being taken from his iPhone, in his bedroom. The visuals are not just an expression of Jordan’s creativity, they are an overt homage to Frank Zappa.
