When publications gush over your music, calling it “American indie rock at its finest”, you know you’re onto something. And listening to ‘White Hot‘, the latest album from seasoned quintet Miss Ohio, the praise is well deserved. Every song on the 12-track is meaty and full of purpose, right from the opener ’14’, which captures the listener with its staccato flow. The variety in the music is enough to keep you engaged throughout the tracklist with songs meandering from the folksy to the brink of metal. White Hot was released almost a year ago now but the project exudes a timeless freshness that makes every listen like the first.
The first single off the project was ‘Magnet’ and we’ve published it here to remind you how good White Hot was when you first heard it or introduce you to the band if you’re not yet familiar with them. There is a gentle country-esque cadence about this song, putting you in a wistful mood. In the crashing cymbals, ponderous guitars and raspy vocals there is a homely charm. You can tell from these also that the musicians involved were far from novices.
