After 10 years of passionate labor, the world is finally starting to come alive to the wellspring of talent that is Mi’das. I have to say listening to his music for the first time felt like being on the cusp of a phenomenal event that has been long overdue. Mi’das, A.K.A Mike Davis has definitely paid his dues for the thing he loves most starting from the time him and his musical siblings (he has a twin who plays drums and another brother who’s a pianist) used to get the neighbors mad with the racket they made. The Brighton native has since put in uncountable hours of practice, some of them as a busker, growing the singing and guitar-playing prowess that have seen him share stages with the likes of Rita Ora and Jamie Callum.
Mi’das, in his own words “loves music that tells a story, played with soul and honesty”. And this is what propelled him to come up with a series of EPs entitled ‘The Story So Far‘. After ‘Glow’ and ‘Grow’, the singer-songwriter has just released ‘Stronger‘ to bring this project to a close. From here on he will be honoring a packed performance schedule while working on his debut album to be released in 2016. In ‘Wish Road’ you can discern the influence of some of Mi’das’ musical heroes including Paul McCartney and John Mayer. You will also be impressed by the quality of a recording co-produced by James Wyatt who has worked with such names as Lianne La Havas. I’m blown away at the soulful delivery and delicate strumming that are Mi’das’ hallmark, but what about you, our enlightened reader? Hate it or Love it?
