There are very few things as terrifying as cancer. Maybe snakes because they are snakes! But ask anyone who’s been diagnosed with cancer and made it through, and I’m pretty certain they’ll tell you they would gladly cuddle an anaconda any day than have to go through Chemotherapy. When this disease attacks a child, it shows no mercy. And this was the case when Jefri Frank’s little girl was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a cancer that originates in your lymphatic system. And oh yes! The cancer is exactly as horrible as it sounds.

It was a harrowing journey for Heather, and she put up a brave fight. The one thing that saw her through that difficult time was music therapy. Jefri got her daughter to receive music therapy services. This music therapy helped her family find insights through their very difficult journey. Heather may have lost her fight with cancer, but the music therapy helped her cope with what was undoubtedly a painful experience in every way. Music was the light in the darkest period in Jefri’s family. Heather died in 2001 at the tender age of 12.
