In 2010, Haiti suffered one of the most devastating earthquakes in human history. The earthquake literally rearranged the face of the earth. George Clooney, Wyclef Jean and Joel Gallen pulled together to organize a benefit concert to raise $61 million in support of the relief effort. The $61 million made it one of the highest grossing benefit concerts in history.
The money went to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Oxfam America, UN World Food Program, UNICEF, The Red Cross, and the Yele Haiti Foundation, the non-profit organizations doing relief work in Haiti. The concert featured performances from Madonna, Shakira, Jay-Z and Rihanna, Bono, Taylor Swift, Sting, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Shakira, Jennifer Hudson, and Bruce Springsteen. Former US President Bill Clinton, Muhammed Ali, Brad Pitt, Ben Stiller, Meryl Streep, and Jon Stewart also made appearances.
