It’s now over two years ago since we first intro’d you to Swedish rock duo The Lost Poets. At this time they’d just released their debut EP ‘Insubordia’, a project that would earn them plaudits across the indie scene. The uniquely desolate soundscapes they created with their meticulous blend of rock and folk elements and deeply introspective lyrics won them fans all over Europe and on the other side of the Atlantic. For a two-man band, these guys bring plenty to the party. ‘Insubordia, Pt. II‘, the follow-up to their first release, further cemented their status as the band to look out for with the single ‘Danny Electro’ in particular gaining good traction on the digital indie radio charts.
After a 3-month stint in L.A. performing and networking in both the music and film industry, The Lost Poets are back in the studio working on new music under their new UK-based label Holier Than Thou. Their latest recording, the rather wordy ‘As Long As I Am Conscious And Clear In My Mind’, serves as their first offering with the imprint and, hopefully, of a third project. Introduced by drafty sound effects, the song easily paints a picture of a lonely journeyman walking wind-swept paths, pondering the quintessential questions of life. An acoustic guitar twangs away with only an echoing tenor for company but other ingredients are subtly injected along the way; a keyboard chimes in and an electric guitar crashes in to match rising emotions.
Let’s hunker down and introspect with The Lost Poets as we await that third album.
