In 1994, bespectacled singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb had no major record deal behind her, but that didn’t stop her from reaching the top of the charts with her hit ‘Stay (I Missed You). The song launched her career, reaching top spots on American charts and earning Loeb and her band Nine Stories a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Group. Following the success of her single, Loeb released numerous successful albums that included the gold-selling ‘Firecracker’ and two children’s albums.
However, her third album only peaked at Number 199 on the Billboard Charts. Her fifth album didn’t fare any better commercial, though critics praised Loeb for her mature songwriting. Loeb never replicated the success of her hit single but she has kept busy, dabbled into acting, got into a relationship with Dweezil “My-father-is-an-eccentric-musical-genius-that’s-why-I-have-a-wacky-name” Zappa, got a reality show with E! titled ‘Number 1 Single’ after her split from Dweezil “My-father-is-an-eccentric-musical-genius-that’s-why-I-have-a-wacky-name” Zappa.
She married Roey Hershkovitz in 2006, had a couple of kids, launched her own eyewear collection, while still squeezing in making music, touring, and acting. Having spent the majority of her childhood summer breaks at summer camp, Loeb also found time to launch Camp Lisa as well as The Camp Lisa Foundation; a non-profit designed to help underprivileged kids attend summer camp. She also sells a coffee brand called Wake Up! Brew, with all profits going to Camp Lisa. Lisa Loeb is a total badass!
