Kyle Lettman made his start in music as one third of the boy band Fun*dmental, a group of guys who met as students in a performing arts school. This crew, known in their heyday as the UK’s answer to B2K, came to prominence after winning a talent competition back in ’04. After a couple of tours, which saw them share stages with the likes of Nelly, Bobby Valentino and Kanye West and a couple of sensual summer anthems like ‘Playground‘, the group splintered. Since then Lettman went about finding himself as a solo artist. Last year he dropped ‘One More Drink’ in which he explored his love for classic R&B while showing his sentimental side. The video for the song, premiered on Soul Culture TV, got Lettman plenty of attention, including from DJs at BBC 1 Xtra and other leading stations. He also released an EP entitled ‘Access’ which he termed a ‘thank you’ to those who have supported him through the years. You can download it from his website.
Lettman is currently working on a follow-up to Access, a new EP going by the name ‘Under Construction’. With ‘Moving Too Fast’ he gives us a glimpse of what it is he’s building. While he remains faithful to his R&B core, Kyle shows his willingness to experiment on this number which samples Artful Dodger’s 2000 hit. The track delves a bit into hip hop with rhyme slayer Scorcher blazing a few bars at the end of the 3-minute jam. A hint of frustration with naysayers is evident in the chorus, the part which goes “…don’t trust what you’re thinking, real talk f**k your opinion”. What do you think of the new, nonchalant Lettman joint? Hate it or Love it?
