He may have left the scene to get help for himself, but like he promised, Kid Cudi is keeping the new content coming. His latest drop is a new music video for the lead single off his upcoming album ‘Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin”. Released September 30, ‘Frequency’ got Cudder fans excited that the Ohio rapper had returned to his melodic rhyming roots after his (some say ill-advised) foray into rock n roll/country on his last full-length ‘Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven‘. The lyrics of the song reflect the same sadness and loneliness in Cudi’s fifth album, though, talking about escape from numbness through sex and drugs. As does its slowed-paced, pounding instrumental, created by Mike Dean and Plain Pat, that probes your mind but still leaves room for you to bop your head.
The newly released video was directed by Kid Cudi himself and features the rapper and a few scantily-clad models (one has nothing more on than jewels stuck onto her skin). He glides into view shirtless, dancing to the beat as he slaloms between trees. Somewhere in the same forest there’s a lady pole dancing and others dancing next to a giant mushroom. Enjoy the mysterious film as we wait on that album release and more visuals from a healthier Cudder.
