For the better part of the past one year Kaydee has been locked away writing and recording. Not just stringing together words that rhyme, literally pouring his soul on wax until it filled the 21 tracks that would be his latest album, ‘The Transition’. This is how the Toronto MC describes his work: “To say I put my life on this album would be an understatement. This tape literally is a part of my being…” That’s deep. All the more reason for you to give this young rapper a chance. Before we go any further let’s kill the notion of Kaydee being the next Drake. Much as he respects the ‘Thank Me Later’ star, Kaydee is blazing his own trail and would rather be known as the “1st Kaydee”.
There’s little not to like in The Transition; all you need is time to process each track unhurriedly. Right from ‘INTROduction’ Kaydee is sure to grab you by the ears but let’s talk about ‘Northside Behavior’, one of the MC’s picks. I dig the gloomy ambiance producer DVN creates for Kaydee to attack the mic. Off the top of my head it sounds like something Mick Jenkins would do. If you’d like to peep the depths of Kaydee’s album you can stream it here. But for now let us know, dear reader, if you Hate or Love Northside Behavior.
