Kanye West fans and the music world in general is waking up today to the news that the hip hop/fashion superstar has been admitted at a hospital in Los Angeles. Reports say that Yeezy had to be restrained and put in an ambulance by LAPD officers forcibly as he tried to resist. The kerfuffle took place at the residence of Kanye’s trainer Harley Pasternak at a few minutes past 1pm yesterday. It is said that Kanye was “acting erratically”, prompting those close by to call law enforcement. They however insist that Kanye’s being handled by police officers and hospitalization was more for his health and safety than for any criminal act.
Erratic aptly describes Ye’s behavior of late; two days ago he abruptly canceled the remainder of his Saint Pablo Tour. This less than a month after he had announced a new leg of the tour with dates running all the way to December 31. As it is ticketholders are already getting refunds from Ticketmaster for the show in Sacramento which he cut short after being onstage for just 30 minutes. Put together, the cancelation of the 22 shows remaining in the tour is projected to cost Yeezus upwards of $27 million. Though one doubts he will be shedding any tears over the lost revenue as the tour has already earned him $34.5 million so far.
Of immediate concern to him and his family will be his wellbeing. Reports suggest that while he was at Pasternak’s house a doctor was checking him out for sleep deprivation. This could have been behind his inexplicable attacks on fellow superstars Beyoncé, Drake and DJ Khaled during a concert. He claimed that Queen Bey told the organizers she would not perform at the recent MTV Video Music Awards unless she won in the Video of the Year category. Ye also expressed fears that her husband, Jay Z, had sent killers “at my head”. The rant, which was at the Sacramento concert, started with a passionate rant against radio, which he said was lying to listeners. You can check out the full monolog below.
It’s not known if Kanye has been discharged yet or what was the official reason for his admission.
