American Rock band Incubus was formed in 1991. The band has maintained mainstream success, selling over 23 million albums worldwide and releasing numerous successful singles. Some of their more popular singles include ‘Pardon Me’ and ‘Stellar,’ both of which are taken of their 1999 album ‘Make Yourself.’ in 2003, the band founded the Make Yourself Foundation.
Named after the iconic 1991 album, the foundation supports a number of charities varying from UNICEF and Urban Farming to the Epilepsy Foundation and the Foundation for Blind Children. To date, the foundation has raised $2 million, with a bulk of the money coming from proceeds of the band’s tours, royalties, auctions, special events, and memorabilia. Over 60 nonprofit organizations have benefited from the Make Yourself Foundation.
The band also makes an effort to offset their carbon footprint from touring by donating to the Carbon Neutral foundation. Carbon Neutral plants trees and conducts research for alternative fuel sources. Lead vocalist Brandon Boyd said of the band’s charity efforts; “sometimes I have to pinch myself that we are in the position we are in; to be able to nudge change through music and smiles. Not forced or intimidated into action, but welcomed and invited,” a true blessing!
