Gwen Stefani has always been on the cutting edge of pop culture. Even now at 46, the former No Doubt lead is shaping the future of how music is consumed. Yesterday it was announced that her next music video will be shot live during the 58th annual Grammy Awards ceremony.
The multiple award-winning singer has spent the past year working on her third studio album and it was announced that ‘This Is What The Truth Feels Like’ will be out March 18th. At the same time the announcement was made, plans for the video of the album’s second single ‘Make Me Like You’ were revealed. It’s not going to be your usual music video; the staging and filming of the clip will be done during a 4-minute break commercial break during the Grammies. This footage will be broadcast live on CBS. It will be a first as no other video has ever been made and shown live on TV. Listen to the song below.
At the same time Gwen is taking her solo career to new heights, the remaining members of No Doubt have announced that they’re moving on with a new lead singer. Gwen’s place in the band will be taken by Davey Havok, lead singer of California rock band AFI. According to Billboard, the new-look No Doubt have already recorded an album and are out pitching it to different labels. With Green Day man Pat Magnarella reported to be the outfit’s manager, one imagines it won’t be long before they strike a deal.
