Less than a week from today, November 11, old school R&B lovers will be in for a treat. The legendary Joe Thomas will release his 12 studio album. From its title, ‘#MYNAMEISJOETHOMAS‘, it seems Joe feels the need to introduce himself again to music lovers, like he did back in 2000. This is not a comeback album by any stretch; he released ‘Bridges’ just two years ago. But he will be hoping that he has done enough in his latest project to recapture the limelight he enjoyed in the late 90s and early 2000s; back when everyone was singing ‘Don’t Wanna Be a Player’. Folks began sleeping on Joe after ‘My Name Is Joe’ and though he’s been consistent in releasing new material since then, he’s barely caused a ripple on the charts. However, he gave the world a poignant reminder of his vocal prowess late last year when he dropped a powerhouse rendition of Adele’s ‘Hello’ (which will be included in the new album).
That was about the time he started building the hype for his new LP. He followed that post with a heart-wrenching new single, ‘So I Can Have You Back‘, for which he also uploaded a lavish video. Now the mercurial crooner has given us yet another gem from his upcoming full-length. It is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of a love that he looks forward to as much as he does happy hour at the club. “It just hit me I’m kinda tipsy, but it ain’t the drink inside the glass that’s got this room spinning way too fast…under the influence of you. You got me addicted, and I don’t wanna fix it.” In the video a typically suave Joe in all white shares the camera with a shirtless Gucci Mane dripping with bling.
