You’ve probably guessed by now that we love our R&B veterans on this website and today we have yet another comeback artist from the golden era for you. When is the last time you heard new music from Eric Benét? Yes, that silky crooner who you used to put on the same playlist as Silk, Jagged Edge, Maxwell, Joe and the likes. Last I checked him out he’d done that tear-jerking dedication to his daughter ‘India’, one of the cuts from his 2005 album ‘Hurricane’. But most of us remember the Milwaukee singer more for his duets; the one with Faith Evans ‘Georgy Porgy’ and the more mushy ‘Spend My Life With You’ which he did with Tamia.
Well, four years after his last proper album ‘The One’, Eric is back with a brand new self-titled LP. Seven albums and 22 years into your career may be a little late, in some people’s opinions, to finally name an album after yourself. Many do that with their first release, but better late than never. ‘Eric Benét‘ the album comes out October 7 so mark your diary, set your reminder or do whatever you do not to miss what promises to be an epic. You’ll get to sample three songs off of it if you pre-order, or you could make do with the one we’re sharing here. ‘Insane’ is baby-making music like you remember it; edgy, sweaty and falsetto-laden. So grab your man/girl, dim the lights, light the candles and surrender to the mood.
