If you needed a definition for staying power, just look at the career of Craig David. The Southampton-born crooner first caught the world’s ear as an 18 year-old upstart, sneaking in his bae while his parents were not home on ‘Fill Me In’. He went on to become the flagbearer for UK’s R&B/electro-pop scene first with his multi-platinum debut album ‘Born to Do It’ and then with his 2002 follow-up ‘Slicker Than Your Average’. He toured the world many times over, moved from Wildstar to Atlantic to Universal Music Group to Sony, released a couple of more LPs then took a lengthy recording hiatus. The six-year silence since ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ was broken on September 30 this year when he dropped ‘Following My Intuition‘.
It was quite the comeback album; it flew to the top of the UK charts, marking only the second time Craig David has made number one. The other time was back in 2000 after Born to Do It’s release. Unlike that debut, Following My Intuition has a more accomplished, confident air. There’s even contributions from some of the industry’s leading lights including EDM master producer Jack Ü, Sigala and Canadian beat guru Kaytranada. Everyone has their own favorite track on the album (this writer’s is ‘Got It Good’), but many seem to dig ‘Change My Love’. And perhaps it’s this feedback that drove Craig to make the song the album’s fifth single and give it the visual treatment.
Join Craig as he saunters through the streets of London singing about his immutable love.
