Is it really news that Beyoncé was the most searched musician on Bing this year? (Well I guess it is or I wouldn’t be writing this!) This has undoubtedly been a fantastic year for the ‘Single Ladies’ star and there are many reasons folks were looking her up on the Web. There was the under-the-radar release of her self-titled album which contained some of her most personal material. The unpromoted ‘Beyonce’ blasted to the top of the charts propelled by ‘XO’ and ‘Drunk In Love’. Music aside there was the Paris holiday Bey shared with hubby Jay and little Blue Ivy which spawned a series of cute images, and the fierce divorce rumors that preceded the lengthy vacation.
Divorce rumors help
While his wife was on top of Bing, Jigga was sitting pretty on Ask.com as the most searched personality in the music industry. In fact the only celebrities who topped Jay-Z were the late Robin Williams and Jennifer Lawrence (now if you never searched for Jennifer Lawrence for her deliciousness in Hunger Games and X-Men, or the nude photo scandal, are you human?). Since Jay hasn’t released anything this year we can safely assume his part in the ‘On The Run’ tour with his untouchable wife is why folks still had an interest in the rap mogul. And of course those pesky divorce rumors which the kiss at the MTV VMAs did little to dispel. Interesting that Hov was more searched for on Ask than the force that is Kim Kardashian (‘s behind) while even Bey couldn’t trounce her on Bing’s overall celeb search list. Makes you wonder just who the hell those 100 million users are who do their searches on Ask.com.
You’ll notice we haven’t mentioned the mother of all search engines. Whoever Google decides is number one is probably searched for by life forms in Pluto. So let’s wait and see.
