After growing tired and frustrated of being spoon fed generic, manufactured, and synthetic “music” by conglomerate owned radio stations and a small niche of industry insiders, Shawn McMurray and Kathryn Wood decided to put the “art” back in “artist” by starting wedoitfortheloveofmusic.com in April 2011. Headquartered in Miami and with representatives in California, Utah, Nevada, Kansas, and Virginia, this site and network is truly focused on giving undiscovered artists the chance to be seen and heard by the masses. Taking the spotlight off of the four or five overplayed flavors of the month, wedoitfortheloveofmusic.com gives a worldwide platform to all genres of music, art, and dance. Our network and site showcases several artists weekly, letting our viewers expand their exposure to those who are striving to fulfill that unquenchable desire to create and share their talents. Our network also gives our viewers access to the established artists they crave through a top 10 countdown. Viewer’s votes determine who makes the cut, not the few privileged executives who determine who succeeds and who fails in a traditional radio or music video format. Giving back is also part of our site and network. We choose one charity a month to donate 5% of our profits to and also provide a way for our viewers and fans to donate to that particular charity. Staying true to our original purpose of giving the underground and fresh artists a place to be seen and heard, the “Express Yourself” section of our website allows viewers to submit video, songs, and art for feedback and constructive criticism. Artists will also be able to use our site to post their performance schedules and purchase advertising space. We plan to also add an online store for artists to sell their goods. At wedoitfortheloveofmusic.com, we truly believe artists create their most passionate, genuine, humble, and influential art when they are on the cusp of fame and mass recognition, before they are molded, handled, and thrown on a worldwide stage billed as the next big thing. This pre-fame era is a time when artists are more focused and centered on their actual art and this is when we want to share what they have to offer. We know, without a doubt, there are many undiscovered true artists out there who deserve to be heard and seen just as much, if not more, than the manufactured cookie-cutter performers most networks and sites give a platform to. Through our interactive and innovative way of giving a voice or stage to those who create from the heart and soul, wedoitfortheloveofmusic.com strives to be a place where artists and fans can hear or see something genuine and different from what they will experience anywhere else.
