One of our favorite London-based artists, Aaron London, has finally emerged from his silence (though his Soundcloud timeline suggests he’s been hard at work). ‘The G O O D Vibe’ is quite a way to reintroduce yourself after an absence. The track is an ambitious amalgam of jazz and hip hop’s baby cousin, trap music, melded together with a touch of dubstep. While many aim for the stars and fail to even break through the ceiling, Aaron rockets past the stratosphere with panache.
The producer-singer has found a way to make it work; a way to make the bebop of the 60s make sense to a generation that loves Future and Drake and Diplo. And it doesn’t just work, it thrives. Apart from putting together the instrumental for the song and furnishing some of the vocals, Aaron showcases his prowess on the saxophone. There truly is a lot going on in this number; on top of the jazzy ingredients, there is also a burst of choral singing at the end.
The song will feature in an as yet untitled EP slated for release in the summer. If this meaty single is anything to go by, that record is sure to be a collector’s item.
