A&L is a country-rock duo based in Buffalo, New York that was formed recently by to artists who are no strangers to the music scene. Anthony Casuccio, the ‘A’ in the name, is a veteran producer with over 20 years’ experience in the industry 14 of which he spent in major labels working with such greats as Johnny Cash and Tony Bennett. His career highlights include three Grammy Award nominations and opening his own audio mastering company targeting independent artists. The ‘L’ is Lana Marie who brings many years of experience as a singer on the Western New York music scene. Her voice can be heard on a number of radio jingles and TV shows. So far the pair has released two singles together, the first of which was ‘Onto the Next Heart’ which they dropped early 2015.
The second is ‘Hot Mess’; a track, which premiered on November 3 and has so far received many positive reviews and has been played severally on digital and conventional radio. Even as far as Europe ‘Hot Mess’ is getting a lot of love. According to Casuccio, the song is “…a comedic look at the various characters (some unwanted) that you often find with at a bar or club”. He uses his guitar skills to color the composition with driving riffs while Lana uses her rich alto to bring the collage of characters one finds in nightspots to life. She derides the aggressive drunk who wants to brawl with everyone and she also has words for the lame dude who thinks she’ll go home with her. Hot Mess is a fun listen but one that’s been expertly executed and packaged by two accomplished artists.
